This diploma is designed for those who are considering becoming a child coach or to those who wish to expand their existing knowledge of the subject. We will cover definitions, standards and models in child coaching as well as examining the core principles and concepts which enable the successful establishment of a child-coach collaborative and positive relationship. Due to the vulnerability of children and the need for different or alternative methods of communication, there will be some material covering child development both physically and psychologically, parent-child relationships and how children learn and shape behavior through different forms of communication.

This course consists of Six Units and is a qualification awarded by The Inner Light School, in its own right; with the quality assurance of a leading awarding body (CIE Global) that hallmarks this professional qualification.
Assessment Objectives (AO)
Students must select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and understanding through the use of evidence, examples and correct language and terminology appropriate to the course of study. This assessment involves two written assignments: one halfway through the course and following the final unit. Both are assessed and graded by the assigned tutor, according to college procedures. The grading procedure if Pass or Fail. If you Fail an assessment you have the opportunity to amend where your tutor has highlighted and resubmit.
Students must critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument. Students can include evidence in different formats to support their written work such as documentation or images to support their course remembering Confidentiality and Data Protection.
Quality of Written Communication (QWC)
In addition, TIL require students’ to produce written material in English, candidates must: ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPG) are accurate so that meaning is clear; select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to studying a complex subject matter; organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate and Harvard referencing of citation and sources. In this Specification, SPG will be assessed in all tutor-marked assignments (TMAs)

Accredited Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Entry Requirement
Entry to this level three course requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have good English oral, reading and writing skills.
Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained throughout the contact center. The course is a rolling program and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at TIL to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.
All students must be aged 16 or over.
The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.
Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of which is supported by the TIE Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support from throughout their course.
This course has been developed by the College’s professional team of tutors to meet the needs of sector-based employers and employees. Accredited Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Course Length
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 1: Beginnings The first unit introduces child coaching, its uses and contexts. A presentation and discussion of the psychological development of children (up to the age of 18), and integration of relevant physical aspects will be given.
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 2: How children learn and respond The unit will discuss these processes and it will aid program design and effective use of appropriate communication models and techniques.
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 3: Communication and specialist coaching skills The unit deals with listening and congruence; how children react and respond within different contexts and situations. The module will also explore and discuss some of the specialist coaching skills needed when working with children.
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 4: Special considerations This unit helps the student to understand ethical issues when working with children, such as consent, criminal records documentation, professional codes of conduct and working with vulnerable groups and address how to build on relationships.
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 5: Changes In this unit you will be exploring the reasons behind why children attend coaching. You will review the various reasons why children attend coaching as they can be complex and even involve family situations such as divorce, separation or loss.
Level 3 Child Coaching Diploma Unit 6: Consolidation and processes Your last unit will bring the whole process together and looks at it from assessment to closure of the program. In addition some example documents and templates for communication models will be given.
